Gaming1 is expanding its position in Belgium’s regulated online casino market after agreeing to acquire Pac-Man NV, the parent company of Carousel Group.
The Belgian gambling group has agreed to purchase 100% of Pac-Man NV’s shares for an undisclosed amount, giving Gaming1 control of the company’s Belgian licence and digital operations once the transaction is completed.
The deal builds on a business relationship between Gaming1 and Carousel Group that dates back to 2012.
Gaming1 Takes Control of Belgian Operations
Following completion of the acquisition, Gaming1 will take over Pac-Man NV’s Belgian licence and online operations, strengthening its digital footprint in the country.
The company said the integration process will begin shortly and will not involve the transfer of employees from Pac-Man NV.
Sylvain Boniver, Chief Operating Officer at Gaming1, said the acquisition will strengthen the company’s digital presence in Belgium while supporting its goal of offering a safe and distinctive experience within the regulated market.
For Gaming1, the transaction provides an opportunity to expand its existing online casino operations without entering the Belgian market from scratch.
Carousel Group Separates From 711
The transaction will also separate Carousel Group from Dutch operator 711, which has activities in both the Netherlands and Belgium.
According to the information provided, 711 is not included in the acquisition and will remain under the ownership of the De Backer family, the current owners of Pac-Man NV.
This leaves Gaming1 with control of the Belgian licence and digital operations covered by the Pac-Man NV transaction, while 711 continues under its existing ownership structure.
A Long-Standing Partnership Becomes an Acquisition
Gaming1 and Carousel Group have worked together since 2012, making the acquisition an extension of an established commercial relationship rather than a new connection between the two companies.
The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Once finalised, the deal will give Gaming1 an expanded position in Belgium’s online casino sector and add another step to its strategy of growing its presence in regulated digital gambling markets.
