888AFRICA turns up the heat in Africa with new AI-powered marketing push

888AFRICA is strengthening its customer marketing capabilities through a new technology partnership with Axom Gaming, as competition intensifies across several of Africa’s fastest-growing betting markets.

The operator has teamed up with predictive intelligence specialist Axom Gaming to integrate the company’s decisioning technology into its existing customer relationship management (CRM) infrastructure.

The move is aimed at helping 888AFRICA make more effective, data-driven decisions around customer engagement while supporting the operator’s expansion across multiple African markets.

Three-month test delivers stronger revenue growth

Before moving ahead with the wider integration, the companies ran a three-month trial of Axom’s technology.

According to Axom, the results improved steadily throughout the testing period. Incremental net revenue increased by 2% during the first month, rose to 7% in the second month and reached 18% by the end of the third month.

The technology works as an additional decision-making layer within the existing CRM setup, using customer data to help determine which actions and offers are most likely to deliver commercial value.

Danny Rippon, CEO of Axom Gaming, said the results demonstrated the potential of the technology to support a multi-brand operator such as 888AFRICA.

The company now plans to expand the integration across the group, with its system continuing to learn from customer behaviour and adjust its recommendations around 888AFRICA’s commercial objectives.

Scaling without matching CRM headcount

For 888AFRICA, the partnership is not simply about generating additional revenue. The operator also wants to improve the efficiency of its marketing operation as its customer base grows.

Martin Nieri, Founder and Chief Marketing Officer at 888AFRICA, said the company is focused on making better use of its existing technology and resources while pursuing its expansion plans.

He added that integrating Axom’s decisioning layer should allow the business to increase net gaming revenue and manage a larger customer base without having to expand its CRM team at the same pace.

That could become increasingly important as 888AFRICA continues to operate across Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi and Angola.

Africa becomes an increasingly competitive battleground

The technology investment comes at a time when competition across African betting markets is becoming more intense.

With established opportunities in the US and Latin America becoming increasingly competitive, international operators are placing greater attention on Africa, where several markets continue to offer room for expansion.

Companies including Super Group’s Betway, Kaizen Gaming’s Betano and LiveScore Group’s Virgin Bet are among the brands increasing their presence across the continent.

For 888AFRICA, improving customer retention and marketing efficiency could therefore prove just as important as geographical expansion.

The Axom partnership gives the operator another tool to compete in this environment, with the companies now looking to build on the positive results recorded during the initial three-month trial.

As African betting markets become more crowded, the next competitive advantage may not simply come from having more customers, but from understanding those customers better and making every interaction count.
