Backseat Gaming Launches as Independent iGaming Studio

Backseat Gaming has officially launched as a fully independent iGaming studio, putting its proprietary remote gaming server (RGS) and technology stack at the centre of a global expansion strategy.

The studio says the platform was developed and tested internally over the past two years, giving it full control over both its technology and future game roadmap.

Weekly releases on the way

Backseat Gaming already has titles live with multiple operators and platforms, including a recent integration with Hub88. Now operating independently, the studio plans to release one new game every week as it expands its portfolio across international markets.

It will also develop bespoke games for selected operators, adding an exclusive-content element to its distribution strategy.

The studio currently highlights titles including Born in Hell, Toad Town and Totem Tower Bonanza among its player favourites.

Technology meets player-focused design

Backseat Gaming says it is combining AI and other emerging technologies with human-led game development as it looks to create a new generation of slot content.

Its approach focuses on straightforward gameplay while leaving room for more experimental concepts, with the studio aiming to build games around what players want rather than simply following established formats.

With its proprietary RGS now fully operational, the company also has greater control over how quickly new content can be developed, tested and delivered to operators.

Building a global footprint

For co-founder and CEO Espen Oeye, the independent launch represents a major milestone after years of building the studio’s technology and content infrastructure.

“This is a defining moment for Backseat Gaming, after years of dedicated work by our team to create a studio that’s entirely our own,” Oeye said.

He added that owning the technology and roadmap would allow the company to move faster and remain closer to player preferences as it expands its presence in the global iGaming market.

With an established portfolio, its own RGS and a weekly release target, Backseat Gaming is now positioning itself for the next stage of international growth.
