BETBY is looking to blur the line between sportsbook and casino with the launch of SlotBets, a new product category that combines real-time sports action with familiar slot-style gameplay.
The provider describes the new format as “slotbetting”, with each game using live sporting events to determine outcomes rather than relying on an RNG. The first major application is SlotBasketball, where players receive a new betting outcome every 15 seconds.
Real basketball drives every spin
SlotBasketball divides each 15-second round into three five-second periods, represented by three virtual reels.
Each reel records the most significant event during its five-second window. That could be a three-pointer, a two-pointer, a missed shot, a foul or even a period in which nothing happens.
Once the 15 seconds are over, the three reels form a combination. Matching outcomes can generate payouts according to the game’s paytable, with multipliers and additional mechanics adding to the potential rewards.
Crucially, the results are determined by what actually happens on the basketball court.
That sets SlotBets apart from conventional casino games that simply use sports as a visual theme. Here, the live match is the engine behind the game.
A faster way into sports betting
BETBY is positioning SlotBets as a bridge between two audiences that traditionally interact with gambling in very different ways.
Casino players can engage with live sport through a format they already understand, without having to learn traditional sports betting markets or odds. At the same time, sportsbook users can get rapid-fire betting interactions while following the match.
Basketball was chosen as the first sport because its constant flow of scoring opportunities, fouls and other events gives the format a steady stream of outcomes.
The game also turns periods of inactivity into part of the experience through a Pause Bonus, which can use eligible stoppage time to generate an additional payout multiplier.
From basketball to 24/7 content
BETBY’s plans for SlotBets extend beyond traditional sports.
The company is developing additional titles including eSlotSoccer, eSlotCricket, eSlotHockey and eSlotPingPong, alongside 24/7 esports content.
That could allow the format to remain active outside the busiest hours of the conventional sports calendar, giving operators another way to keep sportsbook and casino users engaged between major events.
Kirill Nekrasov, Head of Innovation and R&D at BETBY, said the idea came from questioning why casino players should need to become sportsbook experts to enjoy betting on sport.
He added that BETBY wants SlotBets to develop its own mechanics and terminology in the same way that the Crash Games category established its own identity.
SlotBets can sit inside sportsbook or casino
For operators, the product is designed to work across both sides of the gaming operation.
SlotBets can be integrated through a lightweight iFrame and positioned within a sportsbook, casino or both. Its slot-style interface could also make the format suitable for retail environments.
BETBY sees another potential use for the product in live sports pages. Instead of a match tracker functioning purely as an information tool, SlotBets could turn it into an interactive betting area where users can continue wagering throughout the event.
The company will officially showcase SlotBets and the wider SlotBets Games category at SBC Summit Lisbon, where operators will be able to see the new format in action.
If BETBY’s approach gains traction, “slotbetting” could give operators a new way to connect casino-style gameplay with the immediacy of live sports — without forcing players to switch between two completely different experiences.
