The UK Gambling Commission has immediately suspended the operating licences of BresBet Ltd and Bet St George Ltd following investigations into suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures.
The regulator has suspended the licences of BresBet, which operates bresbet.com, and Bet St George, operator of betstgeorge.com, while it carries out a formal review of both businesses.
The action has been taken under Section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005 and will remain in place until the Commission is satisfied that the operators are meeting their regulatory obligations.
According to the Gambling Commission, its enquiries identified suspected shortcomings relating to social responsibility and anti-money laundering requirements. The regulator has not provided further details about the specific issues under investigation.
Despite the suspension, customers of both operators can still access their accounts and withdraw any available funds. The businesses are also required to treat customers fairly and keep them informed about developments that could affect them while the review is ongoing.
The suspensions took effect immediately on 28 August 2026, marking the latest regulatory intervention by the UK Gambling Commission as it continues to scrutinise operators’ compliance with player protection and financial crime controls.
