Booming Games Names Michael Waterfield as Chief Commercial Officer

Booming Games has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Michael Waterfield as Chief Commercial Officer, bringing nearly two decades of iGaming experience to a supplier preparing for a major push into regulated markets.

The appointment, announced on 2 September, marks the fourth C-suite addition at Booming Games in less than nine months. The Malta-based slots developer is targeting regulatory approval across every major global market within the next two years, making commercial expansion a central focus for its new leadership structure.

Waterfield brings operator and supplier experience

Waterfield joins Booming Games after almost five years with White Hat Studios, where he moved from VP Commercial to SVP Commercial and Corporate Strategy. He played a key role in the studio’s expansion across North America during his time there.

His previous experience also includes commercial roles at NetEnt and GVC. At NetEnt, he served as Head of Commercial Strategy, while at GVC he worked as Commercial Manager for Casino.

Waterfield started his career in finance and business intelligence, spending eight years at Talarius in several positions, including Commercial Finance Manager, Business Intelligence Manager and Interim Financial Controller.

That combination of commercial, operational and financial experience will now be put to work at Booming Games as the company looks to turn its growing content footprint into stronger commercial performance.

A bigger role as Booming Games targets global markets

As CCO, Waterfield will oversee sales, account management, market strategy and overall commercial performance.

His immediate priorities will include working with the product and business intelligence teams on pricing, promotions and deal structures, with the company looking to make its commercial pipeline more efficient as it enters additional regulated jurisdictions.

“My early priorities will include working closely with the Product and Business Intelligence teams to further strengthen our discipline around pricing, promotions and deal structure,” Waterfield said, adding that the goal is to ensure the company’s pipeline converts in line with its expansion plans.

Booming Games’ leadership team sees the appointment as another step towards bringing its product, sales and data functions closer together.

Chief of Staff Ramona Petrina highlighted Waterfield’s experience across both sides of the industry, noting that his background combines commercial leadership with a strong understanding of the numbers behind deals.

Four senior appointments since January

Waterfield’s arrival follows a rapid expansion of Booming Games’ senior management structure. The supplier has added a Chief Operating Officer, Chief of Staff and Chief Financial Officer since the beginning of 2026.

The changes come as Booming Games looks to scale beyond its existing footprint and secure approvals in every major market within two years.

Founded in 2014, the Malta-based developer currently supplies more than 150 HTML5 slot titles and holds certifications across several regulated European markets, including the UK, Sweden, Italy, Romania and Malta.

With its leadership team now significantly expanded, the next phase will be about converting that infrastructure into wider market access and stronger commercial growth.
